Dashboard Guide

Navigate and use the Notifer dashboard effectively.

Quick Access

Dashboard is your home base at app.notifer.io - access all your topics and messages in one place.

Dashboard Overview

The dashboard is divided into main sections:

  • Sidebar - Navigation and quick actions
  • Topic Tabs - Organize topics by category
  • Topic List - View and manage topics
  • Message Feed - Real-time messages from selected topic

My Topics - Shows topics you own - Create new topics with + New Topic button - Total count displayed

Subscribed - Topics you're following - Includes both your topics and others' public topics - Notification settings per subscription

Discover - Browse public topics - Search and filter - Subscribe to community topics

Settings - User preferences and account management - Accessible via profile icon (top right)

Quick Actions

+ New Topic Button - Create topic without leaving current view - Opens modal with creation form - See Creating Topics

Search - Search across topics and messages - Keyboard shortcut: Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) - Fuzzy search support

Theme Toggle - Switch between light/dark mode - Click moon/sun icon - Syncs with system preference

Topic Tabs

Organize topics into categories for easier navigation.

My Topics Tab

What you see: - Topics you created and own - Total message count per topic - Subscriber count (for public topics) - Last message timestamp - Privacy indicator (🔒 for private)

Quick Actions: - Click topic - View messages - Gear icon - Topic settings - Subscribe button - Enable notifications for your own topic

Sorting: - Most Recent - Last message time - Most Active - Highest message count - Alphabetical - By topic name - Newest - Recently created

Filtering: - All - Show all topics - Public - Only public topics - Private - Only private topics - With Subscribers - Topics with active subscribers

Subscribed Tab

What you see: - All topics you're subscribed to (yours + others') - Your notification settings per topic - Unread message count - Last received message

Quick Actions: - Click topic - View messages - Bell icon - Configure notification settings - Unsubscribe button - Stop receiving notifications

Notification Settings: - Priority threshold - Only notify for priority N or higher - Tag filter - Only specific tags - Sound - Enable/disable notification sound - Vibrate - Mobile vibration (mobile app only)

Discover Tab

What you see: - Public topics from all users - Topic descriptions - Subscriber counts - Recent activity

Search and Filter: - Search bar - Find topics by name/description - Sort by: - Most Popular (subscribers) - Most Active (messages) - Recently Created - Categories (coming soon): - Development - Monitoring - Personal - Community

Subscribe to Topics: 1. Find interesting topic 2. Click "Subscribe" 3. Configure notification settings 4. Start receiving messages

Topic List View

Each topic card shows:

Topic Information

Topic Name - Unique identifier - Click to open message feed

Display Name (if set) - Friendly name shown in UI

Description - What the topic is about - Truncated with "read more"

Privacy Badge - 🔒 Private - Authentication required - 🌐 Public - Open to everyone

Statistics

Message Count - Total messages in topic - Updates in real-time

Subscriber Count - How many users subscribed - Public topics only

Last Activity - Relative time ("5 minutes ago") - Or absolute if older than 24h

Actions

Settings (Gear Icon) - Access topic configuration - Only visible for topics you own - See Topic Settings

Subscribe/Unsubscribe - Toggle subscription status - Configure notification preferences

More Actions (•••) - Copy Topic URL - Share topic link - Copy Publish URL - Get cURL command - Export Messages - Download as JSON/CSV - Delete (owner only) - Remove topic

Message Feed

Real-time message feed for selected topic.

Message Display

Each message shows:

Header: - Title (if provided) - Bold text - Priority Indicator - Color-coded (1-5) - Tags - Labeled badges - Timestamp - Relative or absolute

Body: - Message content - Markdown formatting supported - Links are clickable - Code blocks highlighted

Actions: - Copy - Copy message text - Share - Share message link - Delete (owner only) - Remove message

Priority Colors

Priority Color Use Case
1 - Min Gray Low importance
2 - Low Blue Informational
3 - Default Green Normal notifications
4 - High Orange Important alerts
5 - Max Red Critical/urgent

Real-Time Updates

Live Messages: - New messages appear automatically - No page refresh needed - SSE (Server-Sent Events) connection - Connection status indicator in top right

Connection States: - 🟢 Connected - Receiving updates - 🟡 Connecting - Establishing connection - 🔴 Disconnected - No connection (retry automatically)

Message Actions

Publish New Message: 1. Click "Publish" button (top right) 2. Enter message details: - Message - Content (required) - Title - Optional header - Priority - 1-5 (default: 3) - Tags - Comma-separated 3. Click "Send"

Search Messages: 1. Click search icon in message feed 2. Enter search query 3. Filter by: - Text content - Priority - Tags - Date range

Export Messages: 1. Click "Export" in topic actions 2. Select format (JSON or CSV) 3. Choose date range 4. Download file

Tips and Tricks

Organizing Topics

Naming Conventions: 

# Use prefixes for grouping
prod-alerts

Color Coding: - Use topic icons/emojis for visual organization - Consistent priority levels across related topics

Efficient Monitoring

Priority-Based Views: 1. Subscribe to important topics 2. Set priority threshold to 4+ 3. Only get critical alerts

Tag Filtering: 

# Subscribe to "deployments" topic
# Filter by tags: "production" only
# Ignore "staging" and "dev" tags

Message Management

Regular Cleanup: - Export important messages - Delete old messages periodically - Adjust retention settings to auto-delete

Search Tips: - Use quotes for exact phrases: "error 500" - Use - to exclude: error -warning - Filter by priority: priority:5 - Filter by tags: tag:production

Troubleshooting

Messages Not Appearing

Problem: New messages don't show in feed

Solution: - Check connection status (top right) - Refresh page (Cmd/Ctrl + R) - Verify you're subscribed to topic - Check browser console for errors - Try different browser

Connection Issues

Problem: "Disconnected" status or frequent reconnections

Solution: - Check internet connection - Disable browser extensions (ad blockers) - Try incognito/private mode - Clear browser cache - Check firewall/proxy settings

Topic Not Showing

Problem: Can't find topic in list

Solution: - My Topics: Verify you own the topic - Subscribed: Check if you're actually subscribed - Discover: Ensure topic is public and visible - Use search to find specific topic - Check filters (All/Public/Private)

Can't Publish Message

Problem: Publish button disabled or error

Solution: - Private topic: Verify you're authenticated - Check you own the topic or have access token - Ensure message is not empty - Check message size limit (4KB free, 16KB pro) - Verify rate limits not exceeded
